Following 32 years of service in public education, Scott recently retired as superintendent
of Desert Sands Unified School District (DSUSD), which represents 27,000 students in
California. Throughout his distinguished career, Scott received numerous senatorial,
gubernatorial, and congressional recognitions, and was appointed to the Baldrige Board of
Examiners by the U.S. Secretary of Commerce. He is a certified Six Sigma Green Belt by the
Institute of Industrial Engineers. He is passionate about continuous improvement and innovation, enjoys engaging in global professional learning networks, serves on numerous local and national boards, and hosts a variety of student scholarships. Under his leadership, DSUSD was recognized with three Golden Bell Awards by the California School Boards Association (CSBA). He was recognized by his university as the recipient of the 2022 Meritorious Achievement Award, the 2022 DSUSD Certificated Administrator of the Year, and as a 2019 Superintendent to Watch by the National School Public Relations Association (NSPRA). In post-retirement he engages with district leaders through the District Administration Leadership Institute (DALI). He enjoys traveling with his wife and cuddling their new grandbabies.
