Dr. Michael Meechin

Dr. Michael Meechin serves as the Florida State Director for NCEE. In this role, he oversees NCEE’s work in the State of Florida, supporting the research, policy, and professional learning with our Florida partner districts. Meechin works with district partners to develop solutions that impact their work as we prepare students for the complexities of today’s world.
Meechin brings expertise in system and school leadership, as well as school improvement work from his 20-year career in Florida and Georgia public education. Meechin has served in leadership roles in some of the most diverse learning environments in Florida, working with some of the largest school districts in the nation. Before joining NCEE, Dr. Meechin was the founding principal at NeoCity Academy, a redesign of the public high school that is now one of the highest-performing schools in the State of Florida.
For his work, Dr. Meechin was named Florida Innovative Principal of the Year in 2018 and School District of Osceola County Principal of the Year in 2021. The Florida Department of Education also invited Mike to join the Commissioner’s Leadership Academy as a fellow.
