Mary Burgess, K-8 Michigan/Florida certified educator of 35 years with high-risk Michigan students. She taught in the Roseville Community Schools District, a small suburb of Detroit. She taught all subjects specializing in science to 3rd to 6th grade students daily. This included mainstream SE. Mary served on many district and county curriculum committees. She has a Bachelor and Master of Education from Eastern Michigan University. She is an author and trainer of the Phenomenal Science Curriculum, a hands-on inquiry-based NGSS K-5 Science Curriculum (OER). She authored many 3-Dimensional Science Performance Assessments (3DSPA) for Michigan Dept. of Education. She is an NGSS Certified Trainer. Presently, Mary is newly retired. Currently, she is a curriculum designer for the Roadmaps digital platform developed by the UMCDC and an author for the BrainVentures (Roadmap lessons) Phen Sci curriculum. Mary continues to be active in education, using her experience and creativity to help youngsters learn.
