Her deep commitment to improving educational outcomes led her to immerse herself in the study and research of neuroscience. Collaborating with field experts, Marcey utilized her classroom as a living laboratory to develop and refine neural-inspired strategies and practices aimed at addressing students' social-emotional needs.
Her innovative approach culminated in the creation of a groundbreaking social-emotional learning program, yielding impressive results such as increased test scores, higher attendance rates, and reduced suspensions. Longitudinal studies, including student interviews conducted 20 years post-graduation, reveal that program participants have achieved significant life successes, evidenced by stable employment and active community involvement.
Marcey continues to work in the mental wellbeing/social-emotional space, building content and enhancing teacher knowledge to integrate social-emotional health with academic achievement. Her expertise in applying neuroscience principles to educational practices has made a lasting impact on students' lives, proving the power of a holistic approach to education.
