Maggie Essig is a Multilingual Educational Specialist at the Illinois Resource Center where she provides professional development and technical assistance for educators and districts in Illinois to improve instruction for Multilingual Learners. Maggie draws upon her background as an English Learner/bilingual teacher, administrator, and consultant to work with educators that serve Multilingual Learners to infuse innovation and creativity into curriculum and instruction. She believes strongly in the power of authentic and meaningful technology use as a catalyst for language development, student engagement, content area achievement, and professional growth. Maggie joined the Computer Science for Every Learner team in 2023 to share her expertise in designing and delivering professional development for educators serving multilingual students and communities. Maggie earned a B.A. in Psychology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, an M.Ed. in Instructional Leadership from the University of Illinois at Chicago, and an M.Ed. in Educational Leadership from American College of Education.
