Laura Hart has worked with teachers, students and technology for over forty years. For the past 26 years she has run her company, Vision Education & Media (VEMNY.org) also known as Robofun, (robofun.org) in NYC. Laura’s work focuses on developing and implementing creative STEAM curricula involving coding and robotics and other STEAM areas. Laura has received three NSF grants, a MacArthur Grant, and has consulted with the MIT Media Lab in the development of the coding environment Scratch. An early interest in coding led Laura to receive an M.Ed. from the Harvard Graduate School of Education (1996). For over 20 years, Laura worked closely with the late Dr. Seymour Papert, MIT’s creator of the Artificial Intelligence Lab and one of the world’s foremost experts on technology and learning. Laura has a BS in Studio Arts from Skidmore College. Prior to founding Robofun, Laura directed the Computer Department at The Buckley School in Manhattan for fourteen years and was Director of Technology at the Little Red School House and Elisabeth Irwin High School for two years. Laura’s passion is to develop and implement joyful and effective tech programs for teachers and students.
