Eric Salgado is the Director of Teaching and Learning at Orlando Science Schools in Orlando, Florida. He started his twenty-year career in Broward County Public schools as a paraprofessional and unique aide while finishing his teaching degree. Upon graduating and securing a teaching job he was quickly tapped to take on the role of grade-chair, teacher leader, and mentor for beginning teachers. After ten years of school-based service, he took an opportunity to move to the district level, where he supported a network of schools for the 6th largest district in the United States through leadership roles. Currently, as the Director of Teaching and Learning, Eric oversees his system’s instructional vision, mission, and goals. He works directly with school principals, leaders, teachers, and other support staff to ensure high-quality instruction and support for every student while building staff capacity. He is an advocate for all staff and fosters a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement. He believes that teaching and learning are dynamic and complex processes that require constant reflection and adaptation. He also believes that coaching is a powerful tool for professional development and a rewarding and fulfilling experience for all who have the chance to truly experience it.
