Dustin Rimmey

Social Sciences and STEAM Elective Teacher, Liberty Memorial Central Middle School
United States
Dustin Rimmey has dedicated the last 16 years of his life to teaching at Topeka High School. During this time, he has become a jack of all trades in the Social Sciences department, which he formerly chaired. Currently, Rimmey guides students through the realms of AP US and Comparative Government, Economics, and Speech and Debate. In 2014, Rimmey earned a James Madison Foundation fellowship, propelling him towards earning a Masters in Public History. However, as sometimes change is needed and variety is the spice of life, he has decided to transition to middle school. In August 2024, Rimmey will begin teaching at Liberty Memorial Central Middle School, a STEAM focused school in Lawrence, Kansas. At the core of Rimmey's educational philosophy lies the belief that play and creativity are vital in rekindling our students' enthusiasm for learning. Beyond the classroom, he revels in quality time with his three children, each having names inspired by characters from the West Wing. When not consumed by teaching or parenting, you'll likely find him engrossed in the world of comic books, expanding his Funko Pop collection, or engrossed in a captivating tabletop role-playing game.
