Safeguarding Early Learning Spaces: How FETC Exhibitors Are Helping Schools Maintain Campus Security
As natural disasters become more frequent and active shooting incidents continue to threaten public safety, K12 school districts across the United States face growing concerns around the physical safety of students, staff, and visitors.
Fortunately, innovative security tools and technologies are available to help districts address these challenges.
From real-time video surveillance to advanced intrusion detection systems, modern security measures are transforming the way schools protect their campuses.
Let’s explore how two FETC exhibitor companies are helping schools safeguard their learning environments.
FETC 2025 Safety & Security Exhibitors in Action
Allegion
Providing Lockdown Tech to Schools throughout the U.S.
Allegion is a major supplier of physical access control products and door security systems, with applications to multiple sectors including education.
Districts like Hamilton Southeastern Schools in Indiana and Chicago Public Schools are using Allegion's electronic locks and door hardware to control physical access to school buildings, further protecting the physical safety of staff and students.
In addition to Chicago area schools, numerous districts nationwide have adopted Allegion’s Schlage and Von Duprin products, including electronic locks and door hardware, to enhance their safety protocols and prepare for potential lockdown incidents.
For example, the Schlage CO-220 lockdown system allows teachers to lock down their classrooms remotely during an emergency with a simple key fob. Other Allegion solutions include corridor partitions and silently operable perimeter doors.
Districts across the U.S. continue to rely on Allegion's technology, integrating its cloud-based systems and cutting-edge hardware to manage access control, track visitor entry, and ensure comprehensive campus security. What’s more, Allegion’s free security assessments help schools identify vulnerabilities and make informed decisions about safety upgrades.

Bosch Security Systems LLC
Implementing Campus Security Solutions at Carrollton-Farmers Branch Independent School District in Texas
Carrollton-Farmers Branch Independent School District (CFBISD), a Texas preK12 school district located just outside Dallas, recently undertook a significant initiative to significantly improve security across its 42 campuses. This initiative improved security measures for nearly all its school buildings, including its sports facilities, service and maintenance buildings, bus and vehicle depots, and administrative offices.
In collaboration with Bosch Security Systems and Genetec, the district implemented a comprehensive security solution designed to enhance the safety and well-being of its students and staff.
Bosch Security Systems played a pivotal role in this upgrade by supplying over 600 intrusion detection sensors and G-series panels throughout the district. These systems seamlessly integrate with Genetec’s Security Center platform, creating a cohesive security network.
This integration allows for a direct link between intrusion detection points and video surveillance, significantly accelerating the district's response time to potential threats. By unifying various security technologies under a single platform, CFBISD has not only standardized its security measures across multiple locations, but has also improved the efficiency of monitoring and response capabilities.
Not only has this robust campus security solution helped CFBISD standardize its security technology across its many physical locations, but it’s also ensured ongoing monitoring and protection for students and staff.

Hanwha Vision
Protecting Oklahoma’s Putnam County Schools with AI-Powered Surveillance Tech
Hanwha Vision's video surveillance systems have been implemented in various K12 school districts, including the Putnam City School District in Oklahoma.
Their systems enable schools to monitor campus activities, deter crime, and provide valuable footage in case of incidents like security breaches, burglaries, active shooters or other threats to security and safety.
In 2021, Putnam City Schools faced increasing concerns about safety amid rising incidents of school violence and vandalism. With over 18,000 students across multiple campuses, the district recognized the urgent need to upgrade its security measures. Because their existing surveillance system was outdated, the district decided to partner with Hanwha to implement a more modern solution.
Hanwha Vision’s team worked closely with district administrators to customize a solution tailored to their specific needs. This included installing high-definition, AI-powered cameras across all campuses, equipped with advanced features like motion detection, people counting, and behavior analysis. And the results were transformative.
Within months of the installation, school administrators noted a significant reduction in vandalism and an increase in reported feelings of safety among students and parents. The real-time monitoring capabilities allowed for quicker responses to perceived threats, fostering a proactive rather than reactive security approach. Additionally, the schools’ new intuitive video management system streamlined the process for staff to access footage and monitor activities, enhancing overall operational efficiency.
