With the growth rate for tech jobs being 2x that of the national rate through the next decade, today’s students have a vast number of career opportunities awaiting them. Studies show middle school is a critical time to spark students’ interest in STEM and prepare them for digital-age careers. This session focuses on strategies for teaching hands-on computer science to middle school students to prepare them for future studies and careers. Attendees will be introduced to Seeker, a new programmable robot by Pitsco Education. Our presenters will demonstrate how educators – with no prior experience – can utilize the robot and curriculum to provide an engaging computer science experience. Educators will experience firsthand how Seeker can be used to introduce coding, robotics, and careers through the lens of technology for good. Following the presentation, participants will work together to program and adapt their robot to help deliver meals to customers.
