Imagine a classroom where technology empowers learning, not hinders it. Constant logins and access struggles are a reality for K-12 educators and students, diverting valuable time from instruction. But there's good news! Leading K-12 districts and edtech suppliers have collaborated to develop a groundbreaking K-12 Identity & Access Management (IAM) standard. Technology is often a point of friction and distracts from the focus of educating students when it doesn't work as expected. The prime challenge is logging in and having appropriate access. While there are well-established best practices of Identity & Access Management that are operational in most other industries, K12 has lagged behind due to the fact that these enterprise standards fail to meet the needs of K12. The rise in cyber security incidents within education systems drives a need for an identity and access management standard that bolsters the security posture of institutions. How identity and access propagate across education ecosystems varies widely from system to system and institution to institution. The K-12 community has come together to develop a groundbreaking Identity Management specification standard. This session unveils this new standard and its potential to revolutionize K-12.
